ROOTED IN GREECE,
MADE IN NYC
An Authentic Greek Souvlaki Shop in the Heart of Chelsea
Tziki was born out of a craving for authentic Greek souvlaki, a craving shared by four friends with roots in Athens, Chios, Kefalonia, and Cyprus. The first modern souvlaki shop opened in Athens in 1924. One hundred years later, Tziki opened at 209 7th Avenue in Chelsea to carry that tradition into New York City.
Souvlaki Made Fresh Daily, the Old School Way
We make souvlaki the way an old school souvlatzidiko in Athens would. Everything is made fresh in-house daily and cooked to order. The pork gyro is marinated overnight in herbs and spices and carved fresh from the vertical spit. The chicken souvlaki is grilled to order. The pita is made by hand. The tzatziki is homemade. Fewer, better ingredients. Blocks of PDO feta from Greece. Halloumi from the island of Cyprus. The gyro is made for today, not tomorrow.
Greek Roots in Chelsea
Chelsea, a neighborhood close to our hearts, was once a vibrant hub for Greek immigrants. With Tziki, we hope to rekindle that culinary heritage in a place where it once thrived.
The experience extends beyond the food. The room is curated to evoke the lively, artistic energy of Athens, brought to life through a collaboration with Alexandra Manousakis, a Cretan artist who infused the space with her blend of contemporary Greek aesthetics and urban energy.
